Goddess, Queen, Feminine
National Women’s month is upon us, and for the last couple years I have been really working on how to stand in my own power and what that really means in regards to my health.
I have been taking time to be better at honoring what I create, what I have created, how I have evolved, how does it impact my community, and more. I am sure that if you took the time to look back at the women in your family, you will find some strong survival skills & fierceness each in their own right. Surrounding myself with other women who are choosing to do the same has been critical in this part of my evolution.
In 18 years, I have been privileged to hear & see so many examples of Feminine Power/Goddesses/Queens. Women who have chosen to stand up for how they feel, & how their body feels. Women who have created a different narrative for not only themselves, but their body as well. Women who have survived what others have done under the guise that “it is a good choice for you”.. Women who are willing to be called “Crazy” or be told that “it is all in (their) head.", & still persist. Wild Women!
It frustrates/frustrated me to hear how the norm is to discount what women are sharing with their health care providers. I operated under the ignorance that our society had progressed past examples shared in the movie, “Girl, Interrupted”. Even more disappointed how female healthcare providers are doing the disservice as well. This is my encouragement to each of you to make them hear you! You are paying them to hear your story about what is happening to your body & paying them to help discover with you what is happening. No one wants to come across like a wilting flower, but chronic anything just plain sucks & makes it pretty hard to “Adult” most days. THIS is why you will find that I have a dialogue from beginning to end of an appointment (Yes it is more than okay to tell me that you do not desire a dialogue during!), because instead of assuming how you feel & what you are feeling before/while/after the appointment…I ask questions. I want to know what your goal is with each & every appointment so that we are consistently working towards it. There is no shame in my world if I have to refer you to another practitioner that may be better equipped to help you achieve said goal. I have developed some really great relationships with other healthcare practitioners, so that if nothing else I can be a great resource.
How does that quote go…”Quiet Women rarely make history.”. In most instances, women who have made great impacts did not always know immediately that they just knocked it out of the park. There are not enough opportunities to be reminded that we (women) ARE Goddesses. We are Queens. We are Creators. We are Divine Feminine. It matters not if you created new humans, if you look different, if you choose to love different…I honor you & the story(ies) your body holds! My Goddesses/Queens, I see & hear you! I hope you take a moment to meditate on how you can honor not only yourself, but realize that your actions have meaning & serve as an example to those around you.
